The 2010 World Rowing Masters Regatta is about to get under way in St Catharines, Canada, and nearly 3,000 rowers have signed up to participate. The rowers have come from 34 countries with clubs from the United States and Canada featuring prominently. Racing will take place from 2 to 5 September.

Beatrix Heaphy-Hall and Eve Macfarlane of New Zealand have had a busy week. It started off by winning gold in the Junior Womens Four at the 2010 World Rowing Junior Championships in the Czech Republic. It continued with a trip to Singapore and acclimatisation for the Youth Olympic Games. Now they have begun to race, and it is going well for them. Today, they won their Repechage and qualified for their Semifinal in the Junior Womens Pair.

Rowers went to the start line today to have a second chance at qualifying for the Semifinals, scheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday 17 August. Due to a thunderstorm, racing was delayed by 30 minutes but then the races were able to start in partially cloudy and mostly dry conditions.
